Level8 Luggage Review: Is It Really Worth the Price?

After losing a few suitcase wheels, I switched to backpacks. However, I recently realised they’re not always the most elegant option. I blame that one on the subtle changes that come with turning 30.
That’s when my search for the perfect suitcase began. And I think I found THE ONE. I love my Level8 suitcases, and I think they’re worth the price.

Pros and Cons: Level8 Luggage
Level8 has several different suitcase lines, but the one I got and loved is their Voyageur line. I got the Voyageur Carry-On 20” and Voyageur Checked 26” set because I really loved the colors, dimensions, and innovative design solutions.

My Experience With Level8 Voyageur
So, how did I test the suitcases for this review? I took them on a trip around Europe!
Before publishing this article, I hadn’t flown with the suitcases yet, but I put them to the test on trains, buses, and European cobblestone streets.
I was most worried about the cobblestones. While beautiful to look at, they’re usually the death of suitcase wheels. Yet these handled them beautifully, rolling smoothly and surprisingly quietly.
Now, don’t expect them not to make any noise, but I noticed that my suitcase was significantly quieter than my friends’.
When choosing the color, I also wondered how well the light blue would hold up against scratches and scuffs. However, it survived being pushed under train seats, into overhead bins, and hotel floors without a mark.
I wasn’t too concerned about dents from people stacking luggage on top of mine, since the Voyageur line is made from a special aerospace-grade material designed to “pop back” into shape if dented.
Finally, my favorite part was how much the Voyageur 20” carry-on suitcase could fit! By far the best interior space suitcase I have ever used. Since the handlebars sit on the edge of the suitcase, I could easily pack for two weeks in Europe, laying my clothes flat, without weird bumps in the middle.

The first thing that impressed me was how fast the suitcase arrived. Level8 offers free shipping to the U.S., Canada, and Europe, with delivery typically taking 3–7 business days. I live in France, and my order arrived via DHL just five days after placing it.

The design is what pulled me to the Voyageur set, so I wasn’t at all surprised to learn that Level8 is a winner of several international design awards.
I absolutely loved the combination of light and dark blue, and I thought it would be great to identify your luggage on a luggage belt quickly.
Sleek design goes beyond the exterior. Once you open the suitcase, you’ll find thoughtful organisation features like:
- Interior compression system for tighter, more efficient packing
- Dry-wet separation pocket for smarter organisation
- Two large compartments that make it easy to split outfits or travel categories
In terms of capacity, this is one of the most spacious carry-on suitcases I’ve ever had. It’s essentially the largest carry-on you can get while still fitting most airline cabin limits.
That said, some ultra-strict budget airlines, like Ryanair, may still consider it too large. However, it works perfectly with most major international carriers.

Wide Handle
What sets the Voyageur line apart from most other suitcases I considered is its innovative wide-handle design.
And it’s more than just a design feature. It also maximises the usable packing space inside the suitcase and makes it more stable.
Honestly, I never thought much about what makes for innovative luggage, but this is it. Unlike traditional telescopic handles that limit storage area, this layout gives you a noticeably flatter, more spacious interior.
I loved being able to lay everything flat without awkward bumps in the middle, and how much I could fit into the Voyageur carry-on suitcase.
At the same time, it still functions as a smooth telescopic handle that extends easily and sits at the perfect height for comfortably rolling the suitcase alongside you.
It’s also wide enough to fully rest your arm on it while you’re standing with your suitcase. Not sure if that was the primary intent, but I certainly enjoyed it.
Interior Organisation
I’m a big fan of packing cubes, but I felt like I almost didn’t even need any with the interior organisation of the Voyageur suitcases.
The best part is that both sides of the suitcase have a zip cover, so you don’t have to worry about your clothes falling all over the place if you open the suitcase on the wrong side.
I also loved how there was a wet compartment. It’s very useful, especially for longer trips like island hopping in Greece, when your swimsuit doesn’t have time to dry before catching a ferry between the islands.
Zippers and TSA Lock
I hate flimsy zippers, so I was pleasantly surprised by how high-quality the zippers on this suitcase are.
To be honest, I rarely lock my luggage when flying. Maybe I’m too trusting, or maybe I always forget my lock. But with these suitcases, you won’t have that problem, as they come with a built-in TSA-approved lock.
If you’ve never used this type of lock before (like me), don’t worry, the suitcase includes a simple instruction leaflet to guide you through setup. Even first-timers can get it done in seconds!
360° Wheels
Finally, I want to talk about the wheels because these might be the best suitcase wheels I’ve ever used.
I know what you’re thinking: they’re just wheels. But trust me, they’re not.
Having eight wheels (four double spinner wheels) that rotate 360° is a total game-changer. It genuinely felt like the suitcase was gliding on its own. Even on rough terrain, like European cobblestone streets, it rolled effortlessly.
If you’ve ever had arm pain from dragging a two-wheel suitcase, this will feel life-changing.
The Verdict: Is Level8 Luggage Worth It?
So, is Level8 luggage actually worth the money?
Overall, I think Level8 is well worth the money and a great pick for those who want to upgrade their luggage.
The luggage is sturdy, beautifully designed, and after taking it on a couple of trips, I feel like it will last a long time.

Who Should Skip It
While I love Level8 luggage, I don’t think it will be the best choice for every traveler.
For example, if your airline of choice is Ryanair, the Voyageur carry-on doesn’t fit within their size limits. Even if you pay for Priority boarding, which includes a carry-on suitcase, it’s still too large, and you may be charged a fee by airline staff.
Of course, you can always check in your suitcase, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a carry-on suitcase, right?
Who It’s Best For
Level8 is ideal for travelers who want premium-quality luggage without luxury pricing.
If you travel regularly and want a luggage set that will stand the test of time and frequent travel, this is the best carry-on suitcase for you.
In my 30s, I really appreciate having luggage I can rely on. As a woman often traveling solo, I want luggage that easily glides on most surfaces, and that’s not too heavy on its own.
I absolutely love the Voyageur collection, but Level8 has several other lines you can check out. I noticed that every line has something special that separates it from the competition.
