Where and how to find vegan ice cream in Bordeaux?
Dairy-free ice cream exists in Bordeaux, you have to know where to look!
I noticed that if the place is advertising their ice creams as “artisanal glace”, they will usually have vegan options!
Most plant-based ice cream options are usually sorbets, but I like having more options – at least chocolate and vanilla!
Another thing to keep in mind is whether the cone is vegan. It is usually not indicated, and you have to ask. I will share the answers I got from the places I went to.
Also, I will share vegan ice cream options in cities that can be visited on a day trip from Bordeaux!

1. Jolly
Address: 7 Pl. du Parlement
All ice creams in Jolly are vegan! Alongside the usual fruity sorbets, they also had chocolate, vanilla, and pistachio.
Vegan vanilla ice cream is not easy to find in France, so I was very excited to try it too.
The texture of the ice cream is excellent, very creamy, and melts nicely.
Their chocolate sorbet is milk chocolate flavored, definitely not dark chocolate. I found it tasted like it was mixed with carob powder. It is sweet but has a slightly sour taste. Definitely an interesting flavor!

2. La Maison du Glacier
Address: 1 Pl. Saint-Pierre
You will be spoilt for choice in La Maison du Glacier. This could easily be the best ice cream Bordeaux offers, so it is not surprising that this is one of the most popular ice cream shops in Bordeaux.
They have a long list of sorbets that are vegan, apart from the usual fruity flavors, they also offer 3 types of vegan chocolate and vegan vanilla!
Their long list of vegan sorbet options includes flavors I have not seen anywhere else, like acai, citrus basil, etc.
I loved their chocolate noir sorbet. The ice cream was creamy and delicious. Not icy at all! The chocolate flavor is deep, and the sweetness is perfectly balanced.
Also, the chocolate orange was delicious! It was so creamy and had pieces of candied orange in it. One of the best ice creams in Bordeaux for sure!
I also tried their watermelon sorbet, which was sweet and refreshing. It tasted like a straight-up frozen, sweet and ripe watermelon. If you are a sorbet lover, you are going to love it!

3. Sofia Glacier
Address: 9 Pl. du Parlement
Sofia Glacier has an extensive menu with clearly marked vegan options. They are all sorbets, but apart from the typical fruit sorbets, they also have cafe and chocolate sorbets. According to their advertising, all their ice creams are bio, natural, local, and made using Italian recipes.
The cones are NOT vegan, as they have milk protein in them. This was confirmed by the employees.
The texture of the chocolate sorbet is a bit icy and not as creamy as I would have hoped.
The chocolate flavor is not as deep as if it is made of dark chocolate. It reminds me of the chocolate drizzle you usually top the ice cream with.
If you are hoping for a deep dark chocolate flavor, this is not it. It is very sweet, so if you like sweet chocolate ice cream, you will love it!
4. Amorino
Address: 60 Rue Saint-Rémi and 53 Rue de la Prte Dijeaux
Amorino is a French international gelato and sorbet chain. It is well-known for its flower-shaped ice creams that people line up to get.
Apart from being very aesthetically pleasing, they can also be vegan! Amorino has a large selection of vegan sorbets and sorbet drinks. I really like their vegan dark chocolate sorbet, as well as their fruit sorbets. Raspberry and mango are my favorites.
If you like their ice creams, you do not need to worry because you can find them all over France and abroad!
5. Bentille
Address: 11 Pl. du Parlement
Bentille has a wide variety of vegan fruit sorbets. All vegan flavors are marked as such, which makes it easy to choose the flavor you want.
According to their advertising, all their ice creams are local, eco-friendly, and homemade. If you bring your cup, you pay less for the ice cream!
Unfortunately, their chocolate sorbet is not vegan-friendly. Therefore, I tried a fruit sorbet. It was refreshing!

6. Olala Arcachon
Address: 3 bis Av. Gambetta and 163 Bd de la Plage, Arcachon
Arcachon is the closest beach to Bordeaux, so if you are visiting Bordeaux in the summer, you will probably go to Arcachon as well!
And if you end up in Arcachon, the best place to grab an ice cream is Olala Arcachon.
They have two locations in the city, and you will recognize them by the sage green logo and long lines in front of the parlors.
There are many vegan options, and all of them are sorbets.
I decided to go for chocolate sorbet; it was the best ice cream I have had this summer!
The texture was creamy, not at all icy. The chocolate flavor was intense, and the sweetness was perfectly balanced—all in all, a delicious ice cream.
