Best Towns and Villages in Paros

There are about 16 towns and villages in Paros, ranging from places with fewer than 100 inhabitants to around 5000 in Parikia.

After deciding that you’re visiting Paros, the next step is planning your Paros itinerary and figuring out which small towns in Paros are worth visiting.

Unlike other nearby islands, there is not just one main town in Paros.

Parikia and Naoussa are the two main towns in Paros, but smaller villages like Lefkes and Aliki are also worth visiting.

Here are all the places in Paros worth visiting, and whether you should stay there or just visit on a day trip.

1. Parikia, Paros Capital

Best for: The main town of Paros, lively at all times, with plenty of picturesque corners

We’re starting with Parikia, the main town of Paros Island, where you’ll land as you get off the ferry.

Parikia is the biggest and best town in Paros, as it’s the one that feels like a real city where locals live and work year-round.

You’ll find plenty of picturesque corners, romantic cobblestone streets, and sunset-view lounge bars in Parikia.

Some of the best things to do in Parikia’s old town are to explore the winding streets in the city center, enjoy delicious food in Parikia restaurants, and see the old Frankish Castle.

Where to stay in Parikia, Paros

Parikia is the best town to stay in Paros for first-time visitors, and getting around by bus.

There’s no shortage of accommodation options, as it is the biggest town on the island.

If you’re deciding whether to stay in Parikia or Naoussa, I spent a couple of nights in both towns, and Parikia is a more affordable option.

  • TOP PICK: Sandom is a luxurious hotel in the city center with a sea view.
  • Mid-Range option: KOKOON has boutique hotel vibes right in the center of Parikia.
  • Budget Pick: Aegeon Garden is a lovely affordable option!

2. Naoussa, Paros

Best for: Iconic cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses, and upscale lounge bars

If you only have a couple of days in Paros, you should visit Parikia and Naoussa. Those are the most touristy spots on the island, and you’ll get a good idea of the island and its vibe.

Naoussa is one of the most beautiful villages in Greece and a must-see town in Paros.

This former fishing village is best known for its pristine cobblestone streets lined with iconic Cycladic whitewashed houses and the Old Port with traditional small fishing boats.

After strolling the streets of Naoussa, you can grab a drink in one of the many seafront bars or enjoy freshly cooked meals in one of the restaurants.

Naoussa is one of the best places to stay in Paros for nightlife. The charming streets of Naoussa are where everybody gathers for drinks at the end of the day.

Where to stay in Naoussa, Paros

When it comes to accommodation in Naoussa, there’s something for every type of traveler. From cozy family-owned apartments to luxurious villas.

Mid-range option

I stayed in the Madaky Hotel and absolutely loved it! It is located right next to Naoussa’s pedestrian zone, so it is quiet at night and super close for walking home after a night out.

It is great value for money, as it is almost impossible to find hotels in such a great location at that price point!

Luxury option

Located in the heart of Naoussa city center, Bohemian Luxury Boutique Hotel is an oasis of tranquility.

Beautifully decorated rooms in this hotel will make you feel like you’re living your island life fantasy.

3. Lefkes, Paros

Best for: Day trip or a quiet place to stay

Located in the mountains in the heart of Paros, Lefkes is one of the most beautiful villages in Greece. It is worth a visit on a Paros day trip to stroll around and see what the mountain Paros villages look like.

Lefkes is built amphitheatrically in a traditional Cycladic manner. As it is situated at the top of the hill, it offers an incredible view over Paros and the neighboring islands of Naxos and Antiparos.

The village grew in popularity in recent years thanks to the numerous picturesque corners you can find around, and it is where you can take many iconic Paros Instagram photos.

4. Prodromos, Paros

Best for: Day trip in combination with Lefkes

One of the best activities in Paros for hiking lovers is going on a Byzantine Road hike. The hike starts in the village of Lefkes and takes you down to the village of Prodromos.

In Prodroos, you’ll find picturesque streets paved with Parian marble, whitewashed houses with colorful doors, and blossoming flowers everywhere you look. You can visit a complex of churches on the main square and admire the bell tower above the central gate.

The village of Prodromos is tiny, and you can walk every street in 15 minutes. It is pretty but not quite worth visiting on its own.

However, it is a great spot on a day trip that combines a visit to Lefkes, Byzantine Road, Marpissa, and the nearby village of Marmara.

If staying in a calm place away from the crowds, close to several picturesque villages, is your idea of a perfect holiday, look no further!

5. Marpissa, Paros

Best for: Day trip or a calm place to stay

While the original Byzantine Road starts in Lefkes and ends in Prodromos, you can continue walking down to Marpissa and visit this picturesque village.

Just like Prodromos, it is a very small village with not a lot to do for more than a couple of hours. You can stroll the picturesque streets and take thousands of photos because everything is so lovely!

Marpissa is located just a couple of kilometers above Piso Livadi, so it is a calm place to stay in Paros if you rent a bike or quad and explore the nearby beaches.

Also, most Paros boat tours depart from Piso Livadi if you want to add a day on the sea to your Paros trip!

Most accommodation in Maprissa has a minimum length of stay, so if you’re planning to spend more than a couple of nights in the village Traditional Arch House is an excellent option!

Best for: Quiet seaside town

Paros is located in the warm Aegean Sea, so you should visit the coastal villages too.

Aliki is a small fishing village, slowly gaining popularity as a place to relax, enjoy island life, and swim on beautiful beaches.

Despite being one of the calmer spots in Paros, the harbor of Aliki is lined with restaurants preparing delicious food with fresh local ingredients.

Tourists and locals gather for a drink in the city center at night, so it feels lively, and you get to observe how the locals live.

7.  Drios and Chrissi Akti

Best for: Beaches

The area around Drios to Chrissi Akti is perfect for those who have more time in Paros as they are coming here for their summer holidays. Both towns are within walking distance of numerous sandy beaches.

Even if you stay somewhere else, this is a nice area to visit for a beach day. Some of the best beaches are on this side of the island, with the famous Golden Beach being the most popular.

The villages in this area are not the most picturesque, unlike the mountain villages or Naoussa, but they are a lovely representation of what local fishing villages look like.

You’ll find some great restaurants right above the water in Drios for fine dining with a sea view.

Where to stay in Drios, Paros

Drios Luxury Studios is a beautifully decorated holiday home in Drios, great if you’re looking for lovely accommodation with a touch of luxury in the area. It’s fully furnished with a kitchenette.

Alternatively, Poseidon of Paros Hotel & Spa is a luxury option, but still on a budget! This beautiful hotel is great value for money, situated right on Golden Beach.

You’ll notice this side of the island is much cheaper than Naoussa for this type of accommodation!
