Most Instagrammable Places In Rovinj

If you’re on a hunt for the most Instagrammable spots Rovinj has to offer and you’re short on time, you’ll be glad to know they’re all in the city center.

Even if you only have one day in Rovinj you can easily visit all the best places to take pictures in Rovinj.

The city gets very touristy in the summer. If you want a photo strolling the streets of Rovinj without other people walking around you, you’ll want to get there early.

Luckily, some of the best spots for photos in Rovinj are seafront, so you can easily take a photo without people walking behind you.

1. Rovinj Harbour View

If you’re visiting Rovinj on a day trip from Pula, head straight to the Aldo Rismondo promenade. A view of the Old Town from the harbor is at the top of the list of photos to take in Rovinj.

This is the most recognizable panoramic view of the city. You’ll get a view of the small fishing boats in the harbor, with colorful houses perched on the small hill with a church at the top in the background.

You can sit on the benches along the promenade or stand with the view in the background.

This should be your first stop when you get to the city to get the best lighting. The sun sets behind the Old Town, so your camera will be facing the sun in the afternoon.

Also, if you want an unobstructed view of the Old Town on the hill, joining one of the boat tours from Rovinj ensures an ideal perspective!

  • The best time to take a photo: Morning, in the afternoon the sun is in front of you.
  • Is the spot tripod-friendly: Yes
  • Exact location: Here!

2. Rovinj Pier View

Continue walking along the promenade towards Rovinj Pier. You can even snap a couple of photos of the colorful seafront houses.

Rovinj Pier is a great photo spot, as you can take photos from two different perspectives. You’ll get the hilltop houses on the left and the harbourfront houses on the right, so you can play with lighting.

  • Best time to take a photo: Afternoon for the city view, morning for the hill view
  • Is the spot tripod-friendly: Yes
  • Exact location: Here!

3. Grisia Street

There’s no doubt that Rovinj is one of the most Instagrammable places in Croatia, and the beautiful Rovinj streets are one of the main reasons why.

Grisia Street is a cobblestone street leading downhill from the Church of Saint Euphemia. It is a must-visit place in Rovinj and one of the best places to take pictures in Rovinj.

The most popular type of photo to take here is the one where you walk down the stairs with colorful houses lining the frame.

Be careful as the cobblestone is very slippery. Don’t wear high heels, because it’s likely you’ll need to take them off to walk.

  • Best time to take a photo: All day, early morning if you want to be alone
  • Is the spot tripod-friendly: Yes
  • Exact location: Here!

4. House With The Blue Bicycle

Theoretically, you can take a photo of nearly every house along Grisia Street. However, the house with the blue bicycle is one of the most picturesque and my favorite.

You’ll see it as you walk from the Church of St Euphemia down Grisia Street. It is situated among the small souvenir shops.

You can take a photo from several perspectives. Go for a simple frontal sitting on the steps, or be more creative with the street view.

  • Best time to take a photo: All day
  • Is the spot tripod-friendly: Yes
  • Exact location: Here!

5. Seaside Table of Atelier Charm’

This seafront table surrounded by blooming flowers is one of the most Instagrammable places Rovinj has to offer.

What you probably didn’t know about the seafront table for two is that it’s part of the dress boutique decor.

Since the table set up is privately owned, if you come outside the boutique’s working hours, you’ll find nothing.

So, learn from my mistake and check the working hours for the photo opportunity!

You can see what it looks like when it’s all set up here!

It is free to take a photo there, but you are encouraged to leave a tip to the boutique owner in a little basket on the table.

  • Best time to take a photo: During working hours
  • Is the spot tripod-friendly: Yes
  • Exact location: Here!

6. Rovinj North Viewpoint

While the view from the old harbor is the most recognizable view of Rovinj, you can get the same colorful houses with a church on the top perspective from the north.

This side of the city doesn’t have the small wooden boats in the sea, and it is generally less visited as it is technically behind the city.

However, it is equally mesmerizing with colorful houses rising directly from the sea!

If you want to take photos with a tripod, head to the promenade behind the Farmers’ market.

7. Blue House Behind the Church of Saint Euphemia

You’ll find numerous picturesque houses in Rovinj Old Town, but the house with blue doors and windows behind the Church of Saint Euphemia is one of my favorites.

It is on a calm side street leading from the Church of Saint Euphemia. This stone house with blue doors and windows makes for a perfect photo, and most people just walk by it as it is not on the main street.

You can easily set up a tripod and take a photo sitting in front of the blue door of this house.

  • Best time to take a photo: All day
  • Is the spot tripod-friendly: Yes
  • Exact location: Here!

8. Seafront Bars

The unique seafront bars are the place for sunset watching in Rovinj. They also make for a great photo spot!

The possibility of sitting by the sea in the city center and enjoying a drink or a meal is one of the top reasons you would choose Rovinj over Pula

The seafront bars like Mediterraneo Cocktail Bar are a perfect place for sunset drinks, but the views are stunning at any time of the day.

If the bars are too busy, as they can often be during summer for sunset, walk a bit further to the rocky Balota beach. The beach has the same charm, with dramatic boulders rising from the sea.

  • Best time to take a photo: All day
  • Is the spot tripod-friendly: Yes

9. Rovinj Old Town

It’s difficult to pinpoint all the best spots for photos in Rovinj.

The Old Town looks like it came straight out of a fairytale, and you’ll find yourself admiring the narrow, cobblestone alleyways and old houses more than once!

Explore the small streets and pay attention to the unique Mediterranean details, like clothes drying above the streets, vibrant flower pots on the balconies, and colorful doors on stone houses.

The city is very photogenic, even if you’re not in the photos!

  • Best time to take a photo: All day
  • Is the spot tripod-friendly: Maybe

The hilltop village of Grožnjan is a place that looks like a movie set. It is nicknamed the village of artists as many artists have made this small village their home. Each house in Grožnjan looks like a photo prompt!

Situated halfway between Rovinj and Pula, Bale is well worth a quick stop. The Old Town has the same medieval charm as the hilltop villages, with cobblestone streets and stone houses.

If you’re a photography lover, you’ll want to visit Pula. The largest Istrian city is famous for its well-preserved Roman monuments, from the stunning Pula Arena to the ancient Roman gates to the city.

Kotli

Kotli is a unique locality in central Istria, and it is often compared to the famous Saturnia hot springs in Italy. The resemblance is only in looks, as these waterfalls are far from hot.

Small limestone pools along the waterfall of Kotli Mill are filled with turquoise blue water, making for one of the most Instagrammable places in Istria.

Lim Bay

Lim Bay is also known as Lim Fjord. This unique bay is long, narrow, and lined with lush green trees. It looks like it belongs in a Nordic country and looks great in photos!
