If you’re a vegan traveling to Corfu, this Vegan Corfu guide will help you find the best vegan restaurants on the island, so you’re not worried about the food throughout your trip!
I’ve been traveling as a vegan since 2017, and on my recent trip to Corfu, I was pleasantly surprised with the food options I had as a vegan!
At first, I was a bit worried as there were no fully vegan restaurants on the island. However, there are a couple of vegetarian restaurants in Corfu Town and many restaurants with vegan options!
Also, several traditional Greek dishes can easily be veganized, and fruits and veggies are fresh and full of flavor.
Let’s get started with your Corfu vegan guide!

Is It Easy To Be Vegan In Corfu?
I had no issues finding vegan food in Corfu during my trip, and I didn’t feel like I was constantly worried about where am I going to eat as in some other countries.
Sure, it is not like being vegan in London or Paris with hundreds of fully vegan restaurants around, but it is manageable!
While there are currently no fully vegan restaurants on the island, several vegetarian restaurants have basically a fully vegan food menu, but serve cow milk with coffee.
Corfu is a very touristy island and people working in restaurants know about veganism, so you can get a vegan dish in regular restaurants too!
Most locals speak English, so you won’t have an issue explaining veganism if nothing is marked as vegan on the menu.
If all else fails, Corfu supermarkets have plenty of vegan items you can get and make meals yourself.
I went to Lidl on my first day in Corfu and got some cool vegan products I hadn’t seen before! I got to try vegan tzatziki, vegan halva spread, vegan ice cream, and some sort of Greek sweet bread.
Other supermarkets have a good selection of vegan items too.
Also, it is a great way to save money if you’re visiting Corfu on a budget!
Accidentally Vegan Food In Corfu
Before coming to Corfu, I read several articles that said the easiest way to eat vegan in Greece is to eat Greek fasting food.
What those articles don’t tell you, is that fasting is just about one month out of the year, and those dishes are not something you regularly find on restaurant menus.
Instead, they are mostly homemade dishes like lentil soups.
Also, fasting food in Greece can contain fish and honey, which is not particularly vegan to begin with.
So, what accidentally vegan Greek food is there on Corfu?
It is mainly staters!
But, don’t despair – these starters are full of flavor and quite filling when you order a couple of them!
Here are some of my favorite vegan Greek starters you can find in many traditional tavernas:
- Gigantes: Butter beans in tomato sauce
- Briam: Sauteed vegetables in spicy tomato sauce
- Stuffed peppers: Pepper or tomatoes stuffed with rice
- Fasolakia: Sauteed green beans
- Dolmadakia: Stuffed vine leaves

Vegan Food In Corfu Supermarkets
As a budget traveler, I love checking out local supermarkets when I travel.
Supermarket prices in Corfu were slightly cheaper than in France, but some items were more expensive. For example, Alpro and Garden Gourmet brand products were slightly pricier.
I went to Lidl and AB Supermarket, and both had plenty of vegan items to choose from.
You can even see vegan products in AB online, so you know what to look for and the average prices!
However, don’t expect to find everything you see online in stores, especially smaller stores like the ones in Corfu. They stock fewer items and prices are at least 0,50€ more expensive.
So, what can you expect in Greek supermarkets?
Every store has at least a couple of plant-based milk brands. Also, hummus is quite popular in Corfu too.
Also, I’ve seen several Greek brands of vegan cookies, milk, and spreads. I even found a halva spread! I didn’t even know that was a thing. I had these cookies on me at all times – delicious!
Bigger stores also have vegan meat alternatives, cheese, spreads, and ice cream.
Lidl has a regular vegan selection I’ve seen in every Lidl throughout Europe (except in France, I don’t know why Lidl in France stocks different items)
With so many vegan items I haven’t seen before, I had no problem stocking up for 7 days in Corfu.
Corfu Vegan Restaurants
As I already told you, there are no fully vegan restaurants in Corfu.
However, there are quite a few restaurants with vegan options that are well worth visiting!
Generally, Corfu Town is the best place to stay in Corfu for vegan restaurants.
Even if you end up in one of the remote Corfu villages with 1 local taverna, you can always opt for a Greek salad without cheese or grilled veggies.
New vegan restaurants pop up all the time, so I always check the Happycow app when traveling to a new place.
Here are some of my favorite vegan-friendly restaurants in Corfu!
Rose’s Bakery
📍Location: Corfu Town
If you want to try some traditional Greek pastry and baklava, look no further!
I loved everything I tried in Rose’s Bakery, from sweet to salty dishes. I tried spinach and tomato pie, and several types of baklava.
It is the place to grab a snack, breakfast, or even a light lunch!
Bizou Cafe
📍Location: Corfu Town
Bizou Cafe is as close to a vegan restaurant in Corfu as it gets. Their entire food menu is vegan, the reason for the vegetarian label is they offer cow milk for coffee.
The cafe is only open until 3 PM, so it is a great option for breakfast or lunch. You can have over 10 different types of vegan pancakes, sweet and savory, tofu scramble, sandwiches, and much more!
Aubergine Cafe
📍Location: Corfu Town
If you have lunch at Bizou Cafe, head to Aubergine Cafe for dinner. This is another vegetarian restaurant, but they have several vegan dishes on the menu.
I had my first vegan moussaka here and it was delicious. I wish it was bigger for the price, but you are seated on a very popular square in Corfu Town so you kind of pay for the location too!
Artisti
📍Location: Corfu Town
If you’re in the mood for Italian food, head to Artisti! This charming restaurant in Old Town serves some of the best vegan pizzas on the island, and it is situated on a picturesque square.
They have a separate entirely vegan menu, with mainly pizza and pasta.
Mouragia
📍Location: Corfu Town
I wanted to try pastitsio while in Corfu, and I found a vegan version in Mouragia! It was everything I hoped it would be – saucy tomato pasta baked with vegan cheese.
They have a full page of vegan dishes on the menu, and you can’t beat the location with a sea view either!
Tabule Rasa
📍Location: Corfu Town
I wish I had more days in Corfu, so I could try more places! This falafel spot was closed when I was there, and it looked absolutely delicious.
Vegan options are clearly marked on the menu, and include falafel wraps, a pasta dish, moussaka, and several dips!
Squirrel Restaurant
📍Location: Ipsos
Squirrel was a true hidden gem and one of the best vegan Greek foods I’ve had on this trip! It is a bit remote, so you’ll need to drive there unless you’re staying in the area.
The food is homemade and full of flavor, the staff is friendly and they have a separate vegan menu. I had giant beans and the creamiest mashed potatoes.
Kantina Grill
📍Location: Sidari
If you like fast food, you can’t skip this grill in Sidari. I spent two nights in Sidari and I went back twice to have their vegan mushroom gyros. It was delicious!
Their fries with vegan mayo were fantastic, and they have several types of vegan burgers if you’re in the mood for burgers.
This is a great place to grab a late dinner after watching the sunset at Loggas Beach!
Greek Village
📍Location: Sidari
This casual restaurant with a seafront terrace had some of the best options for sit-down vegan meals.
Vegan dishes were clearly marked, and you try some traditional Greek dishes like vegan moussaka and Greek salad with vegan feta!
Hotel Apollon Restaurant
📍Location: Paleokastritsa
I was quite surprised to see a big vegan menu in a restaurant right next to Paleokastritsa’s most popular beach.
Vegan options are clearly labeled, and you can try vegan moussaka, vegan gyros, burgers, and more!
They also have a separate bakery with vegan pastries, and I tried their vegan almond pie, bougatsa, – it was massive and delicious!
Pure
📍Location: Kavos
If you’re coming to party in Corfu, you might be looking for vegan food in Kavos. Pure is one of the best restaurants with vegan options in the area.
Unfortunately, it is open only until 6 PM, so you’ll have to look for something else for dinner.
Mediterranean Restaurant
📍Location: Kavos
Another place with several vegan options in Kavos. It was a slightly nicer restaurant, and the prices reflected it.
They have several dishes with Beyond Meat, but I went for their pest pasta. It was tasty but had a very subtle pesto flavor, so next time I would go for something else!
LA VERANDA
📍Location: Lefkimmi
La Veranda is a cocktail bar in Lefkimmi, a village close to Kavos. I only planned on having a drink when I saw the place, but I was pleasantly surprised with their food menu.
We only got coffee with plant-based milk, which was great. You can also grab a cocktail with vegan sliders, vegan pizza, and cauliflower wings on the side!
FAQ: Corfu Vegan Food
Yes, you can find vegan food quite easily in Corfu. While there are no fully vegan restaurants, most traditional tavernas have vegan dishes on the menu or can prepare them. Also, supermarkets have lots of options if you’re self-catering!
No, you shouldn’t drink tap water in Corfu. The water won’t make you sick if you use it to brush your teeth, as it is safe to consume. However, the locals advised me I should buy bottled water for drinking, and they had a bottle waiting for me in every accommodation.
Final Thoughts: Vegan Corfu Travel Guide
I had no issues traveling as a vegan in Corfu! I traveled from north to south of the island, and I found vegan options in every restaurant.
While there are currently no fully vegan restaurants on the island, the locals understand the demand and offer vegan options in most places.
If you’re on a budget, you can do your entire food shopping in Cofu supermarkets. It is also a good idea to prepare sandwiches if you’re taking day trips in Corfu.
You can find basically everything you’ll need in supermarkets, and I was quite impressed with vegan items and brands I haven’t seen before.
Now that you know Corfu is worth visiting as a vegan, it’s time to book that ticket and plan your trip to this beautiful Greek island!
Thank you for this very useful information. Going to Corfu for a holiday in a few weeks and my son and I are vegan. I appreciate the effort you have made to make our stay more enjoyable already by not having to worry too much about our food options.
